COMMUNICATION GUIDELINES FOR SPL EMPLOYEES THAT EVACUATE
As a result of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, which caused many SPL employees in Louisiana and Texas to evacuate their homes last year, SPL has established the following guidelines as part of our emergency preparedness plan to assure good communication between the Company and its employees during a hurricane and/or other disaster.
If your city is receiving warnings of inclement weather not requiring evacuation, refer to the SPL Inclement Weather Policy in your SPL Employee Handbook.
If your city/county/parish is requesting evacuation and you evacuate:
Contact your supervisor before you evacuate if possible, and let him/her know your plans. If you were not able to contact your supervisor before you evacuated, call him/her within 24 hours of evacuating.
Human Resource contacts are as follows:
Both e-mail and mobile calls for Sheryl Lyons are monitored after hours. In Emergency Situations you should both call and send an e-mail.
Employees can also email the HR department at the following email address:
If Houston, TX is affected by inclement weather requiring evacuation and the Houston Offices are closed, SPLs Traverse City, Michigan office will become the focal point of communication. Notify our Traverse City office at 1-888-775-6424 within 24 hours of evacuating. If the Houston Offices are closed, do not email the Human Resources Department in the event our email system is down.
KEEP A COPY OF THESE GUIDELINES WITH YOUR IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS THAT YOU WILL TAKE WITH YOU IF YOU HAVE TO EVACUATE AND/OR IN YOUR VEHICLE.
