Inclement Weather

During severe weather conditions, call your SPL facility, contact the highest level manager at your location, and/or listen to your local radio/TV station to see if the office will be closed. If the office is officially closed, affected employees will be paid until the CEO decides otherwise.

If the SPL office will be open, we do not expect you to risk your safety to get to the office. You will need to decide if it is safe for you to report to work. If you do not report to work, you will be considered absent and can:

• Take the day off using your available Vacation Leave or,

• Take the day off without pay if you don't have available Vacation Leave.

Emergency conditions may prevent an employee from getting to a work facility. In these situations, missed hours will not be paid. However, the hours may be made up at the employee's discretion and with their supervisors approval. This time must be completed during the same pay period in which the absence occurred. Arrangements for these situations must be approved by the employee's immediate supervisor.

Management at each facility should have a Communication Phone Tree List, in order to facilitate communication among the employees.
